The cosmetic procedures are those which enhance the patient’s appearance. They include;
- Face Lift
- Eyelid reshaping
- Nose and ear reshaping
- Breast uplift, reductions and implants
- Tummy tuck
- Arm and thigh lift
These procedures may be performed by a Plastic Surgeon, or a cosmetic surgeon or doctor, and are termed “elective” even if the procedure does carry a Medicare item number.
The Plastic Surgeons also perform a range of appearance altering operations, such as reconstructive operations on the face and body. Many of these plastic surgery operations become necessary for a patient who has been involved in an accident or suffered from a medical condition such as cancer, or burns. These operations are usually termed medical, although some are still in the category of elective surgery.
After a consultation with an experienced patient advisor, it will be made clear the qualifications necessary to perform each of the operations.
